Steve McCutcheon was born on August 30, 1911 in Cordova, Alaska. After moving to Anchorage in 1915, he held a variety of jobs and eventually served terms in the Alaska Territorial House and Senate. He opened Mac's Foto Service in Anchorage in 1949 and developed a reputation as a commercial photographer and cinematographer. McCutcheon retired from public office in 1953.
